Do you know about NASA - CHIPS Mission. I bet you dont...

CHIPS (Cosmic Hot Interstellar Plasma Spectrometer) is an American (NASA) astrophysics spacecraft that was launched by a Delta 2 rocket from Vandenberg AFB at 00:45 UT on 13 January 2003. The 60 kg, triaxially-stabilized spacecraft has a spectrograph covering the 9-26 nm wavelength band at a resolution of 0.1 nm, scanning the entire sky in chunks of 5 degree x 27 degree segments during each orbit. The targets are the hot and diffuse nebulae at about a million degrees temperature. The band covers several strong emission lines. Launch Date:   2003-01 13     Launch Vehicle:  Delta II Launch Site:   Vandenberg AFB, United States Mass:   60 kg  CHIPS carried out an all-sky survey of the diffuse background at wavelengths from  90  to 260 Å at a spectral resolution between about λ / 150 and λ / 40, and a spatial resolution of 5 to 15 degrees. CHIPS detected diffuse emission near 170 Å, but this turned out to be associated with the earth’s thin outer atmosphere or its int

Quantum Entanglement : The Science of Teleportation

In the realms of Quantum Physics, there is an extensive property known as quantum entanglement which is one of the most weird property that man has ever encountered. After about 60 years from its prediction, scientists have encountered one such phenomenon and are claiming to have created tons of entangled particles.

Basic Idea : So let us try to understand what Entanglement actually is...

The answer to this question holds the key to provide access to the magnificent phenomena of Teleportation. In quantum entanglement, if we bring two atoms close enough then they associate with each other and get entangled. Now if we separate them apart by a distance of a metre or even if we keep them at two ends of our universe, then also they remain entangled and their properties associate with each other even though there is nothing in between them.

So let's see how it works by an experimental method :

Lets take two atoms and measure their properties like their spin ets.Now we know what theire spin is. Now bring them close enough so that they get entangled. now when we move them apart and again measure their spuns, we get terrifying results. If we measure the spin of 1st one to be clockwise(for example) then the other one always shows an opposite spin and vice-versa. Even if they individually have same spin then also on entanglement, they show exactly opposite behaviour and thus opposite spins. It seems that something connects them even when they are far apart nad there is nothing in between them. This idea is so weird that many of the scientists struggled for this concept and were against this.

So The great Nobel Laureate and Physicist Max Von Laue once said  "If it turns out to be true, i'll quit Physics"
and even the  Genius, Albert Einstein hated it so much that he called it "Spooky action at a distance".

However as days passed by, this phenomenon comes out to be true and blew the nerves of our minds, and still continues to be one of the most weird idea of Quantum Theory.
Entanglement however also opens a door to unlock secrets of some some great concepts of Science fiction like Teleportation.
Enatanglement has helped scientists to teleport a photon 100 km apart and provides a hope that one day we will be able to teleport humans also.

So lets see, how the scientists made it possible and demonstrate the experiment : Scientist made two facilites on two lone islands above 100 km apart. Then the scientists brought two atoms close to entangle them and them separated them apart and they took one of the atom on the other island. The scientists then bought a photon near the 1st atom and eventually it appeared on the other island. So due to entanglement, the 1st atom transfered the data about photon to its partner on the other island and the 2nd atom created a similar photon on the 2nd island by analyzing the data transmitted.
